Joshua and Kyrissa’s musical journey began in 2007 in Denver, Colorado, where they met through a Seminary Program. Though their connection didn’t spark immediately, a year later, encouragement from a friend led to the start of their love story—and eventually, their shared passion for music.
Joshua grew up surrounded by music, inspired by his father’s guitar playing and songs, while Kyrissa inherited her love for songwriting and performing from her father. Both honed their talents through childhood and church performances, and by the time they met, they were already deeply rooted in their craft.
As a duo, they began collaborating on projects like a Christmas album and wedding performances, blending their unique influences—soulful, jazzy lyrics from Kyrissa and guitar-driven sounds inspired by Joshua’s idols like Santana and Earth, Wind & Fire. Their mutual love for bands like NeedtoBreathe and Johnnyswim shaped their soulful rock sound.
In 2024, they officially launched Runaway Charlie, transforming their passion into a full-fledged musical endeavor. Currently, they’re in the studio crafting their debut album and preparing for a summer of live shows. Stay tuned—Runaway Charlie is just getting started!
